New Life Bible Church

Allen McLauchlin, Pastor

A family friendly, never alone, purpose driven church

Grace Giving: Cheerful giving to the church based upon desire and  the blessings and promises you have received.

Universal question: How does giving money to the church benefit ME?

1. Grace giving helps to develop our faithfulness.

Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us—I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7

I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you are not already destroyed. Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you “But you ask, ‘How can we return when we have never gone away?’ “Should people rob God? Yet you have robbed me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ You have robbed me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Malachi  3:6-9

2. Grace giving makes us more Christ like.

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich. My advice: It would be good for you to finish what you started a year ago. 2 Corinthians 8:9-11

He emptied himself, taking the form of a servant. Philippians 2:7.

They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem. They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do. 2 Corinthians 8:4-5

3.  Grace giving brings us special blessings (favors) from God.

Abel also brought a gift—the best of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted  Abel and his gift. Genesis 4:4

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you. Deuteronomy 15:10

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.     The generous will themselves be blessed. Proverbs 19:17; 22:9

You must decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. 2 Corinthians 9:7

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Ephesians 1:3

4. Grace giving proves to God our love for Him and His church.

Therefore show these men the proof of your love and the reason for our pride in you, so that the churches can see it. 2 Corinthians 8:24

Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. Exodus 25:2

The people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the Lord with a whole heart. 1 Chronicles 29:9

No one can serve two masters. you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24

5.  Grace giving assist us in achieving financial stability.

The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. Deuteronomy 28:12

Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” Luke  6:38
