“THE IMPORTANCE OF AN MEDIATOR ”

A family friendly, never alone, purpose driven church

Job’s dilemma: How can mere mortals prove their innocence before God? . His wisdom is profound, His power is vast. There is no way of truly communicating. Job 9:2,3

God is not a mortal like me, how can He comprehend what I’m going through. Job 9:32

Job’s Plea: If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. The mediator could make God stop beating me. Job 9:33,34

Job’s statement: I don’t need a God, I don’t need a man, I need a God-man.

MEDIATOR: Someone who bears the image of man and God. All human and all divine.

God’s Response: For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. 1 Timothy 2:5,6

Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up his divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form. Philippians 2:6,7

1. Someone who fully understands man’s plight…..

He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with our deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our human frailty He carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on Him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet He never complained. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, totally innocence, as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Isaiah 53:3-7

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15

He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. Luke 22:44

2.  And, someone who is able to converse with God on His level and on our behalf.

He is the kind of high priest we need because He is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven. Unlike those other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins. The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever. Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands. Hebrews 7:26-8:2

And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19-22:

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 1 John 2:1

3. Someone who is able to bring PEACE into our lives.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
