New Life Bible Church

Allen McLauchlin, Pastor

A family friendly, never alone, purpose driven church

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Power:  a cosmic principle, the ability to control the universe. To be an overcomer.

I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will. Jeremiah 27:5

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:4

1. By being patient, wait on God, especially when you are anxious.

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, He gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised. Acts 1:4,5

For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. Isaiah 30:18

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm. Psalm 37:7,8

Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. . James 5:7,8

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Philippians 4:6

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22,23

Peter continued,  This was written in the book of Psalms, of Judas where it says,  ‘Let someone else take his position.  Then they cast lots, and Matthias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven. Acts 1:15,26

“How foolish  Saul ” Samuel exclaimed.  You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you. Had you kept it, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. 1 Samuel 13:13

2. By staying in fellowship with like minded persons while you wait.

They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. Acts 1:14; When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Acts 2:1,2

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47

While Peter was in prison, the church was in fellowship and prayed very earnestly for him.    Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. Acts 12:5,7

After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves. 2 Chronicles 20:21,22

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16.

Stay in constant contact every day, and make sure its everyday,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. Hebrews 3:13

For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. Matthew 18:20
