THE ANSWER: Give generously to the poor, and to God’s work; and the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do. Deuteronomy 15:10

THE HOW: Develop a giving mentality.

1. Pray, for an Open heart so you can see the needs of others.

If there is poor among you, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. Deuteronomy 15:7,8

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know.  Ephesians 1:18

Open my eyes that I may see.  Psalm 119:18

For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed Me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give Me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite Me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give Me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit Me.’ Lord, when did we ever SEE you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ “And He will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help Me. Matthew 25:42-45

2. Pray, that God gives you an understanding heart to the plight of others.

Do not be mean-spirited and refuse help  because you think they were irresponsible.  If you refuse to help the needy person, you will be considered guilty of sin. Deuteronomy  15:10

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. Proverbs 18:2; Let your conversation be full of grace, seasoned with salt.  Colossians 4:6

Before I learned to answer You, I wandered all over the place, but now I’m in step with your Word. Psalm 119:67

3.  Pray, that God gives you a heart of action when you see and understand.

When you set him free, and see his needs, you shall not send him away empty-handed. You shall furnish him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, from your wine vat; give to him as the Lord your God has blessed you. Deuteronomy 15:13,14

Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? James 2:15,16

Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” Luke 19:8

If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. Luke 9:23

4.  Pray, that God gives you a servant’s heart.

Take an awl and push it through his earlobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Deuteronomy 15:17

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’  When you did it  for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me. Come, and be blessed by My Father. Matthew 25:34-40
