Pastor McLauchlin, fondly known as Pastor Allen, was raised in a Christian home by loving and caring parents. After completing High School (Anne Chesnutt), he enrolled in Fayetteville State University where he received a BA degree in Sociology in 1970. Two months after graduation, he was drafted in military.

He attended New Bethel AME Zion Church, where he accepted the Lord in his life and was later licensed as a Methodist minister under the leadership of his pastor, Dr. Joseph Smith.

During his tenure as a Military Police Officer, stationed at Fort Ritchie, Maryland, Pastor Allen met Norma Tucker. The couple married on March 25, 1972, after being honorably discharged from the Army as Viet Nam Era Veterans.

In 1976, Pastor Allen earned a Master of Education degree from East Carolina University and later earned his Certificate of Biblical Studies from Carolina Bible College. In 1993, he earned the ThD Degree from International Bible College and Seminary.

Pastor Allen was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in January of 1978, and called to pastorate in March of 1978 at St. Paul AME Church in Winslow Arizona. After a little over two years of pastoring, he returned to North Carolina and became the Assistant Pastor of New Bethel AME Zion Church in Fayetteville, NC.

In the Fall of 1980, feeling armed with the Word of God and a vision from God, Pastor Allen and Norma planted New Life Bible Church.  In 1997, they founded and are Senior Administrators of New Life Christian Academy and in 1998 he founded New Life Bible Institute, a two year Biblical Certificate Program.

New Life moved to its current location in 1987 on a two acre track of land.  The New Life Campus now stands on 25 acres of land. A new 20,000 square foot multi purpose building is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2010. To God be the GLORY.

During his tenure at New Life, Pastor McLauchlin was blessed to become the proud father of his son, Allen Scott-Tucker McLauchlin, who is one of the sources of his pride and joy.
